The Roofing Material
Flat tiles which was an ideal pattern for European countries having snowfall were introduced in Goa by Portuguese in 1700 (pattern by governor) manufactured by D. A. Almeida's. Same flat tiles was duplicated by Mangalorian companies like Albuquerque (1865/1888), Lobo and Sons and Alvares Co. These flat tiles were not suitable for heavy rains hence corrugated tiles famously known as Mangalorian tiles were introduced. But we have one made in France glass corrugated tile which is same pattern as Mangalorian tile. So, the question asked: Who copied whose? The ventilator tiles for air, sun and moonlight and age old traditional koila tiles cover the tile story substantially. The various ridges (teliao) with different shapes and sizes for above mentioned tiles block the rainfall with a full proof effect.
